Abrielle (III) (2012)
2012 (2008), Live duet (solo) performance
Abrielle was first performed as a solo work inspired by research into theories of dialogism and the dialogical-self. The short work is grounded in a series of scored provocations/instructions that were developed into a duet form during this 2012 season with Rob McCreddie. The score instructions activate the performers’ to traverse the landscape of a female character who is essentially unpredictable, contradictory and playful. The name Abrielle was chosen because it means open, secure, protected. Props, lighting and music support an augmentation of Abrielle’s world both for the performers’ and audience and gradually illuminate the curious land of her existence.
